Whether you are newly single, have been single for a long time (🙋🏻), or you're just celebrating Valentine's Day alone this year, here are a few tips on how to make the most out of this romantic holiday.
1. Spread the love
Volunteer at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. Give back to your community by spreading all of that extra love toward those who truly need it.
2. Take yourself out for dinner
I don't know about you but I never treat myself to dinner. Maybe Valentine's Day is the perfect time to give yourself a little extra love and eat a fine meal somewhere nice.
3. Treat yourself to something you'd normally never get yourself
Going along the lines of the previous idea, you can have a little more fun with this one. If you've had your eye on a fabulous sport's bra that costs more than you'd normally spend but you know it will be awesome, buy it! Or, if you're like me and you've had your eye on the birthday truffle set from Godiva but you'd never buy it for yourself, go ahead and just get it already. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something little that will make you smile.
4. Act as if it's just another day
This is probably the most simple idea. Honestly, unless you're in a relationship (and sometimes even if you're in one), Valentine's Day is just another day. It takes the pressure away to do something extra special. Just steer clear of the lovey-dovey people ;).
5. Connect with other single friends
This is super fun! There are so many things you could do...you could host a Galentine's Day party, go indoor skydiving with a group of buddies, or even go on a chocolate and wine tasting tour. All without the pressure of being on a date.
6. Lounge in your PJ's and watch Netflix
To be honest, this is what my sister and I will be doing this year. We'll be watching the new To All the Boys I've Loved Before movie on the couch, in cozy clothes, surrounded by blankets, probably eating popcorn and drinking tea. What better way could you spend Valentine's Day?
7. Get a massage
Another wonderful way to self-care! Even if you just get a massage once a year, or even once every other year, Valentine's Day is the perfect day for it.
8. Go on a hike
Choose your favorite spot and go get some fresh air. Bring a pal along to enjoy it with you and take lots of pictures.
9. Take a painting class
This is a great way to have fun and learn something new. You might even meet new people while you're there.
10. Go to a show
I feel like this could be similar to #3 but I wanted to put it in here anyway. I love going to the theater, a ballet performance, or orchestral performances. Choose one that you've always wanted to see and go either by yourself or with a friend. Dress up, do your makeup, and have a fabulous time!
What do you do for Valentine's Day?
Until next time,
Amanda
