Monday Motivation - Travel Fitness Diaries

I had a wonderful time on vacation! However, even though I had planned to be working out during the week and keeping you updated, I sort of dropped the ball on that one. I walked every day in the Disney parks and ate healthier than usual, though. I only gained 2 pounds in two weeks, which would normally be about 5 pounds. Finally, we built in active fun into our vacation as well, which helped me with getting cardio.

It's the little things that can make a difference. Because I've been working on my cardio at home, I didn't feel like my chest was caving in when I walked for hours in the oppressive heat. The fact that I didn't gain as much weight was also very exciting. If you've ever been to Disney, you know that it's difficult to eat healthy all the time.

One of my favorite parts was when we went biking. It was a beautiful day and we ended up biking for about 10 miles. Again, I didn't feel like an elephant was sitting on my chest, so I'd call that a win! I also tried a fun-run. It was a 1.3 mile run (that I mostly walked because it was so hot) and I was rewarded with three fat beignets at the end. I may not have ran the whole way, but I did make it over the finish running.

These small things helped me stay fit throughout our vacation. I may have only gone to the gym once, but I did what I could and it ended up being enough.

Today, I want to encourage you to do what you can. Be positive about what you have accomplished and don't focus on the things that you haven't. If you ate too much ice cream last week and not enough vegetables, don't worry about it. That's what Mondays are for. They are for starting a new week and building new goals.

Being on vacation should be a relaxing time, so enjoy yourself and don't put too much pressure on staying perfectly fit and perfectly healthy. It's okay to take breaks and splurge every once in a while. I hope you have a fantastic week last week and are having a fantastic Monday today!

Until next time,

Amanda
