I don't know about you, but I find it difficult to exercise in cold weather. I'm usually to cold to move, let alone dressing in fitness clothes and exercising. Yes, you get warm pretty quickly, and maybe this makes me lazy, but I don't like cold! If you're like me, I would like to share some great ways to still get your exercise while still remaining warm.
If you are sitting on the couch or at your desk, it is easy to do a quick warm-up that will get your blood flowing and warm your body enough to get you out of your chair.
Try performing small, tight circles with your arms outstretched to the sides (10x and reverse)
Prayer pulse in front keeping your elbows close together (10x slow, 10x faster, hold for 20 seconds)
Perform a shoulder press without weights (10x slow, 10x fast)
Lean back in your chair or situate yourself on the front of the couch and perform bicycles with your legs (20x)
Squat in and out of your chair, just hovering over it as you come down (10x)
Now you should be warm enough to do a full workout! It can also be done with a blanket in your lap and sweatpants on ;). If you are interested in a full chair workout, let me know and I can put one together for you. Stay warm!
Until next time,
Amanda
