My family is in Florida enjoying the final weeks of summer and I don't think I have to tell you how hot it is here. It has been sunny and humid pretty much every day so far, with little rain breaks in the evening. When you're on vacation in a hot climate like Florida, it can be difficult (especially when you're not used to it) to stay hydrated and have energy.
Because you are constantly sweating, you need to make sure that you are replacing lost fluids with plenty of water. I've stressed this many times before, stating that being hydrated is one of the most important parts of maintaining homeostasis and health throughout your body.
However, when you sweat, you are also releasing important electrolytes that need replaced. I usually recommend coconut water, but if you are going to a Disney park (like we are) it is easier to just bring a water bottle with you. I have found that Trace Minerals Electrolyte Stamina Power Pak is one of the best electrolyte powders that you can add to your water.
They come in many different flavors according to your taste, including lemon-lime, orange, and berry. You can purchase them online or in certain health food stores (we bought ours in Whole Foods). These little packs are full of essential electrolytes and antioxidants to re-hydrate and give you energy. Power Paks are also high in Vitamin C to keep your immune system boosted.
Even if you're not on vacation in a hot area, you can use these packs on a run, during a difficult workout, biking, or even on a hike. Whenever you are sweating a lot, I recommend that you have some sort of electrolyte boosting drink on hand.
What do you think?
Have you ever tried these? If so, do you like them?
Are there any other products that you would like to recommend?
Let me know!
I hope you are having a fabulous week. Until next time,
Amanda
