In our household lately, we've been doing a lot of research on copper toxicity and how to reverse the effects. Did you know that an over abundance of copper in the body can cause anemia, hair loss, insomnia, and other physiological and psychological symptoms?
The body needs copper in order to produce ATP (the precursor to DNA and RNA and works to store and use energy from food). When the body doesn't have enough ATP, it can't produce enough energy to perform regular bodily functions. Low levels of copper in the body can cause sluggishness, metabolism, low energy, and poor metabolic health.
When someone is experiencing copper toxicity, it is mostly likely due to the fact that they are not able to absorb proper minerals for their body to use. When this happens, these minerals can build up causing more harm than good. Because they are not being absorbed into the bloodstream, they are actually just sitting there unused.
I encourage you to check out this post on copper toxicity and how it can affect your body. It is a great resource if you are experiencing any of the symptoms I mentioned above or if you are simply curious. Dr. Cynthia Perkins outlines, very simply, what high copper is and how it affects other functions in your body, and most importantly, how to reduce the elevated levels of copper.
Please check with your doctor if you have any questions. I am not a doctor, all I wish to do is help you find answers for yourself and encourage you.
Until next time,
Amanda
