Fueling Your Body - Pre and Post Workout

Writer's picture: AmandaHowardAmandaHoward

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and are now ready for the week ahead. Today we are going to talk about fueling your body before and after your workout. It is so important that you properly prepare your body before you exercise and afterward to help build muscle, relieve soreness, and give you the proper amounts of energy to perform.

Before we get started, I want to let you know that I will be writing a small handbook specifically dedicated to this subject. This book will give you information on why it is so important to fuel your body, some great recipes that can be made and kept for on-the-go, and delicious smoothies. If you would like to know when this book is coming out, please sign up for my email list to get notices each week.

Back to the post...

Before your workout it is important to eat foods that have carbohydrates in them in order for your body to create and store glycogen. This glycogen will help your muscles perform better and prevent soreness later on.

After your workout it is important to eat foods with high amounts of protein in order for your body to rebuild. If you don't eat protein based snacks and/or meals after your workout, it is likely that you will be more sore, stiff, and your muscles will not repair as quickly.

Don't forget to fuel your body before and after every type of exercise that you do. Your body will love you for it.

Until next time,

Amanda
